Referencing the Waterloo Street chapel’s history as a school, this video installation draws inspiration from the song "In and Out of Cherry Window," a game once popular among schoolgirls, which fostered bonds through creativity and imagination. From 1891 to 1925, the chapel building served as a temporary home for the first Methodist Girls' School while its original location at Short Street underwent renovations.
"Through the Rose Window" evokes the spirit of these pastimes, projecting an animation that captures the childlike wonder and nostalgia associated with them. This historical connection enriches the installation, aiming to reconnect visitors with the playful innocence of childhood. By blending this rich history with artistic expression, the installation creates a moving, evocative experience that bridges past and present.
